That is Professor Glenn Harlan Reynolds’ comment on the recent poll showing that young people are turning away from the Democratic Party. Obama promised gullible young voters the moon when he ran in 2008 and 2012, and, sadly, a large percentage of them bought his baloney about how the federal leviathan would make their lives much better and how his administration would be nothing like that of the evil and authoritarian George Bush. Apparently, many of the bamboozled have learned a hard lesson.
Throughout their education, Americans mostly hear praise for government and disdain for capitalism and voluntary action. Maybe Obama’s great legacy will be that he squandered all that propagandizing with a dose of reality.
