I’m having a hard time finding anything to do these day that wasn’t paid with porkulus. Back in May, the City of Asheville approved a pass-through of $50,000 in federal funds for Moog Music. The company, along with a “world” of music, is the legacy of Robert Moog, the inventor of the synthesizer that bears his name. The $50,000 would help Moog move to a $2.5 million building and employ 10-15 people.

Following the announcement of the grant, plans for the Moogfest were announced. This is guaranteed to be more than the typical Asheville festival described by onlookers as people walking around holding a beer and thinking they’re having fun. I think I will make the effort to attend the Moogfest and even enjoy it. I only wish it hadn’t been tainted, like all of us, with the filthy lucre.
