Boy, you’ve really got problems when lefty Washington Post and the righty Washington Times both are against you. That doesn’t happen often. In this case each of these papers has editorialized that Durham DA Mike Nifong should drop all charges against the Duke lacrosse players and face further ethics charges from the state bar. As for Nifong’s blinders-on approach to this case, the WaPo said:
But Mr. Nifong badly misconceives his job as a prosecutor, which is not simply to robotically prosecute claims or seek a conviction at all costs but to make an independent analysis of whether justice would be served by continuing with the case.
“Misconceives his job” is putting it mildly.
