When Gov. Cooper’s COVID-19 lockdowns forced millions of North Carolinians to communicate for school and work through computers, the need for high-speed broadband connections across our state was put on full display. Now we face a challenge to bridge the gap that was revealed and to ensure that North Carolinians have access to the broadband necessary to navigate today’s world and economy. In this conversation, we’ll hear from Graham County Schools Superintendent Angie Knight about the need and impact in western North Carolina, and we’ll talk about how North Carolina’s policy choices of the past few years have positioned our state well for this infrastructure challenge. We’ll also outline the necessary infrastructure steps detailed in a new Locke Foundation report to ensure quick action on broadband access at a lower cost.
