The COVID-19 public health crisis has moved hundreds of thousands of North Carolina students and teachers into an online learning environment. No one knows for sure how well they will adapt, how long this requirement will remain in place, and how many will ultimately decide they prefer online learning to a traditional classroom. But prior to the onslaught of the coronavirus, many North Carolina students had already made the choice to learn online, and thrive by doing so.
