A federal judge has ruled that UNC Chapel Hill did not violate the U.S. Constitution by using racial preferences in admissions. The decision has once again shined the spotlight on factors universities use to determine their student body, the role of preference and discrimination in this calculation, and challenges to the belief that factors other than merit should be considered.
In this conversation, we’ll talk with Gail Heriot, author of “A Dubious Expediency: How Race Preferences Damage Higher Education,” and a member of the U.S Commission on Civil Rights. We’ll also be joined by Jenna Robinson and Jon Guze for perspective on the role of the university system in North Carolina and what’s to come.
