Many Supreme Court watchers focus their attention on the rulings handed down by the high court, the dissents in controversial cases, and the combination of justices for and against the final decision. But this month, it’s what the court decided not to take up that garnered lots of attention. In this conversation, our experts will look at the slate of gun rights cases and qualified immunity cases that were passed over for review. Ten gun-related cases were rejected, disappointing those who saw them as an opportunity to secure Second Amendment protections. Also rejected were more than half a dozen cases tied to the immunity granted to police and other public officials when they are sued over actions taken as part of their official duties.
