With the new year comes new opportunity to drive a Carolina Rebound that lifts North Carolinians from the nightmare of COVID-19 shutdowns into a year of promise and purpose. We’re looking ahead to the new General Assembly session with full confidence and a full agenda that puts freedom for every North Carolinian first in the minds of lawmakers. When the session begins on Wednesday, Jan. 13, our government affairs and outreach team, led by Senior Vice President Becki Gray, will hit the ground running, employing Locke research and analysis to move our freedom agenda. In this Shaftesbury Society conversation, the Locke team will discuss our 2021 priorities and how they dovetail with the priorities of members of the new legislature. We’ll look at ensuring access to quality, affordable medical and dental care, continuing fiscal restraint and respect for taxpayers, empowering parents seeking the education that works best for their kids, providing access to broadband that is vital to a modern economy, safeguarding elections so they are fair and transparent, and breaking down barriers that hinder North Carolinians’ ability to earn a living.
