How well can the North Carolina economy respond to a shock like the COVID-19 pandemic? A new assessment co-authored by Western Carolina University Professor Edward Lopez reviews the state’s fiscal health and economic health with an eye toward the prospects for sustained recovery. In this conversation, Professor Lopez will share his conclusions, discuss the impact of years of fiscal discipline by the General Assembly, and remind us of the role that economic freedom plays in promoting growth and prosperity.
