Why did Gov. Roy Cooper sign on to a statement of support for a regional cap and trade program underway in the northeast that virtually guarantees higher gas prices? It’s called the Transportation and Climate Initiative, a cap and trade program adopted by several northeastern states in a quest to save the planet from the evils of fossil fuels and transportation. Estimates say the plan could hike gas prices by as much as 38 cents per gallon. In this conversation, we’ll get details from a Massachusetts watchdog organization that is fighting the initiative led by their state’s governor. We’ll also hear what Cooper’s support could mean to North Carolinians, take a closer look at the Biden and Cooper energy plans, and hear about market-based ways to improve the environment while protecting North Carolinians’ wallets.
