The September 11th terrorist attacks led to years of war and hundreds of thousands of U.S. soldiers deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Veterans are now faced with many challenges related to their service including PTSD, homelessness, unemployment, and suicide. These barriers keep veterans from reintegrating to successful civilian life. John Turner, a U.S. Army Veteran, founded and will be opening the Veterans Life Center in Butner, North Carolina in 2020 to work to address these problems. The residential center aims to prevent these all-too-frequent crises by strengthening the mental and physical health of veterans, improving their life skills, and providing vocational training to guide them to career opportunities and community reintegration. Join us to learn more from John about North Carolina veterans and the Veterans Life Center.
