So I’m sitting here watching the Wake-Carolina game and reading this post on Progressive Pulse when the very commercial for the N.C. Problem Gambling Hotline appears on the tube.

It’s the one with “Education Lottery Czar” Tom Shaheen dumping a whole bottle of hot sauce on sandwich while urging us to seek help if we have a problem with gambling. After all, he says, moderation in all things is healthy.

I don’t think there we’d ever see a public service-type commercial sending that message for — gasp — cigarettes. Which leads me to another thought–perhaps if the state still had the millions it’s spent on anti-tobacco campaigns, maybe it would need a lottery to build schools.
