The global Catholic TV network, EWTN, filed a lawsuit yesterday that challenges the Obama administration’s direct, willful, and shameful attack on religious freedom.

Network president Michael Warsaw says the lawsuit is meant to defend Catholics and others from being forced to fund contraception.

Most employers and insurers have to cover birth control free of charge under the nation’s new health care law.

“We had no other option but to take this to the courts,” says EWTN President and CEO Michael P. Warsaw, in a statement. “Under the HHS mandate, EWTN is being forced by the government to make a choice: either we provide employees coverage for contraception, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs and violate our conscience or offer our employees and their families no health insurance coverage at all. Neither of those choices is acceptable.”

To those who think this fight is much ado about nothing, I pose this question: What will you do when the Obama administration — or any administration — decides to trample on YOUR religious belief? What will you do if a president decides you MUST believe? Are you going to sit back and wait until that happens before you defend against this attack on fundamental freedom?
