In an exceedingly useful column today in The Wall Street Journal, Daniel Henninger digs beneath the happy sound bites about “change” and “hope” to examine what Obama is really saying. He finds that the message is pretty much the same as John Edwards’ “two Americas” blather, delivered less stridently.

Here’s the most quotable line: “Whatever else, Barack Obama isn’t talking sunshine in America. He’s talking fast and furious. People not yet baptized into Obamamania may start to look past the dazzling theatrics to see a vision of the United States that is quite grim and could wear thin in the general election.”

Perhaps so. Are there enough voters in the country who are willing and able to get beyond theatrics and think through the consequences of following Obama’s anti-market policy ideas?
