For those who love to bash people who make more money than they do, the next few weeks should be delightful as we are treated to more of the Left’s “fair share” mantra. As we know, facts matter less and less in policy discussions these days so the following data will be ignored. For those who choose to be informed, however, here it is, courtesy of a Washington Examiner editorial.

But even taking into account all forms of taxation, the top 1 percent still paid 22 percent of federal taxes while earning just 13.4 percent of household income. The top 5 percent paid 40 percent of all federal taxes, despite earning only 26 percent of all income. No matter how you slice the numbers, it’s hard to understand why anyone would think the wealthy aren’t already shouldering a burden commensurate with their blessings.

I disagree. It’s very easy to understand why people love to bash those they deem as “rich.” The problem can be summed up in two words: envy and entitlement.
