Reporteth the Mountaineer:

In an unfortunate accident on Sunday, Oct. 12 during a law enforcement appreciation event in Canton, a boy who was attending the event with his family was bitten by a Waynesville K9.

The victim was treated immediately. He required stitches, and the Waynesvoille Police department picked up the bill. Now, here’s the rest of the story:

The dog, Kaiser, handled by Officer Matthew Cogburn, was resting on the ground, in a tent, when the boy approached from behind, perhaps to pet the dog.

As he neared the dog, he tripped over a tent wire and landed on the K9, startling it, which was when the bite occurred.
