In wonderful understatement, the AP reported on WRAL.com last week:

Deputies say someone set fire to two activity buses and a dumpster behind Cleveland Middle School overnight. The school itself was not damaged.

Authorities think it was a case of vandalism.

Sounds like it to me.

By the way, school buses are insured by taxpayers, not by a large company of customers gambling on actuarial tables. WRAL’s story today gives the replacement cost of four buses burned in Cumberland County as about $60,000 each — which Roomies know is the total tax liability of 71 taxpayers, according to the Leef Funding Analysis Factor.

My guess is some juveniles in Johnston and Cumberland are due for a visit by about 355 taxpayers, if everyone knows who’s who.
