Peter Ferrara writes here about financial and health care deregulation, digging into specifics that the Democrats prefer to keep hidden away from national discussion. In a lockbox, maybe.

For many years after the Civil War, the Republicans told voters to support them because the Democrats were the party of “rum, Romanism, and rebellion.” Just a mindless slogan to avoid serious discussion of the issues of the times (such as tariffs — back then the Democrats were the free trade party). Today, the Democrats use their line that the Republicans are the party of “deregulation” in the same way.

In this pivotal year, it’s depressing that the electorate has been inundated with blather, slogans, and sound bites from both major party candidates.
