Not too long ago I argued that fairness as a standard of decision making?especially in public policy? needed to be dumped. For those same reasons and more, it definitely does. And now today’s Wall Street Journal opinion page offers a piece titled “The Panel” that sketches out a sincerely to-be-wished-for Democratic scenario in all its fairness and gory [sic].

The route, as another piece in today’s Journal reminds us, is negotiable; the end is not.
