Yesterday, former WPTF radio personality Kevin Miller (aka “The Round Mound of Sound”) was taken off the air [scroll down] by management of the legendary KDKA radio in Pittsburgh. The reason?
In a segment that could have been either stunt or statement, KDKA executive producer P.J. Kumanchik read an announcement from CBS management addressing accusations that talk host Miller, whose show airs from noon to 3 p.m., is unfairly biased against Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign.
Citing a number of e-mails and phone calls from listeners criticizing Miller, Kumanchik offered Democratic presidential candidate Obama a three-hour air shift, usurping Miller’s air time.
Before Miller arrived in Pittsburgh, KDKA aired the Rush Limbaugh Show in the noon to 3 pm slot. Moreover, the unabashedly conservative Fred Honsberger (aka “The Honzman”) follows Miller in the 3 pm to 5 pm slot. KDKA also airs The O’Reilly Factor and Dennis Miller later in the evening.
