From the latest Harvard-Harris poll of registered voters, taken just days ago. The poll comes to us from former Clinton pollster and strategist Mark Penn and it contains fascinating results on a variety of immigration-related questions and issues. For example, how about the latest push from progressives who say they want to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)?
Penn polled the newest progressive immigration proposal, the “Abolish ICE” campaign to disband U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Sixty-nine percent of those surveyed (78 percent of Republicans, 59 percent of Democrats, and 73 percent of independents) said ICE should not be abolished, while 31 percent said it should.
Clearly, abolishing ICE is not mainstream thought, yet I haven’t seen or heard much criticism from Washington insiders — let alone the avalanche of criticism that is foisted upon those on the Right who want to eliminate federal agencies — say education or energy. Why not?
