Ed Cone weighs in on the Wrangler-Brett Favre angle, saying he doesn’t see the Greensboro-based company keeping Favre on as a spokesmodel very long, barring complete absolution. Given the fact that Favre hasn’t denied anything, I don’t see it, either.

Given the circumstances surrounding the Favre controversy, I perceived a little wink-wink from staff writer Gerald Witt in this morning’s N&R write-up on the Wrangler angle:

In a news conference after a loss Monday night to the Jets — the same game in which Favre threw the 500th touchdown pass of his NFL career — he avoided questions about the allegations.

He talked about the game in his Southern drawl, as he has hundreds of times.

At one point Favre rubbed his chin with his left hand. His wedding band caught a glint of light.

It was impossible to tell what brand of pants he was wearing ; a podium blocked the view of the lower half of his body.

Maybe I just read too much into things after all these years of blogging.
