Don’t forget that federal investigators are still plowing through the muck left behind by Jim Black. The current focus is the tax break enjoyed by beer and wine wholesalers up until 2003 that was magically restored under Jim Black’s speakership. After massive donations from beer and wine wholesalers, of course.
The industry says it is fully cooperating with the probe. Of course they are, especially after seeing so many people go to jail in connection with political scandal in this state. Amazing how that little incentive seems to work.
And do not forget that Michael Decker is still talking, Kevin Geddings is still talking, and I’d wager anyone investigators reach out to is singing like a canary at this point.
This is why there is such a drive, a push, a hope, a prayer to put The Jim Black Scandal Behind Us. Guess what? Not going to happen.
