There is a little flap building over at UNC-Chapel Hill about student athletic fees. Outgoing athletic director Dick Baddour requested a healthy $90 increase (40 percent), half of which was supposed to go for scholarships for athletes in non-revenue producing sports (no mention of what the other $45 was supposed to go for–to make up for unsold Blue Zone seats, perhaps?). Since then, the amount has been cut in half, but a quickie vote planned for the student fee advisory subcommittee was postponed, since some students dare to question why they need to subsidize sports in order to get an education.
