From the N.C. Republican Party:

Raleigh ? NCGOP Chairman Tom Fetzer continued his call for full transparency surrounding the investigation of the campaign committee for Governor Beverly Perdue, noting that the State Board of Elections has admittedly still not delivered information requested by the NCGOP.  Fetzer accused the State Board of Elections of stonewalling, noting that the information was given to members of the media weeks ago.  ?The State Board of Elections continues to do everything possible to avoid the disclosure of truth surrounding the Perdue for Governor Campaign and they continue to display the partisanship that has been evident since we filed our initial complaint in October,? Fetzer said.  In May, the NCGOP filed a public records request for all documents pertaining to the investigation of the Perdue for Governor Campaign.  Fetzer believes the State Board of Elections is playing a game of ?cat and mouse? by failing to provide documentation that is readily available.  The NCGOP has led the way in revealing Perdue campaign irregularities including illegal campaign contributions.

Fetzer utilized a Monday morning press conference at NCGOP Headquarters to highlight more evidence of collusion and corruption.  Fetzer referenced the original draft report in which State Board of Elections Chairman Larry Leake and State Board Director Gary Bartlett deliberately removed language that negatively shed light on the Perdue Campaign.  He referenced the deletion of language by the lead investigator where they questioned whether the Perdue campaign made an effort to avoid disclosure or payment of campaign air travel.  ?That would?ve made major headlines and it is the exact opposite of Gary Bartlett?s statements.?  Fetzer also went on to note deletions where staff referenced being hindered from interviewing key individuals who were believed to have had intimate knowledge of the Perdue Campaign.

Fetzer renewed his call for Board of Elections to comply with state law and deliver the documents requested and reiterated his assertion Chairman Leake and Director Bartlett resign or be removed from their respective positions.  ?Both Leake and Bartlett allowed Perdue?s attorney to manipulate the investigation, thwarting the public?s right to the truth,? Fetzer concluded.  Perdue?s attorney, John Wallace, also served as former-Governor Mike Easley?s attorney in an investigation of illegal activities by the Easley Campaign.
