A tract of land that had caused great animosity to flame between Henderson County and City of Asheville leadership will now be sold to Buncombe County. Conflicting claims of ownership had caused the parcel in the lovely Bent Creek area to be thrown in with the perpetual Water Disagreement. The proceeds for the baby will wisely be split with half going to each contending party.
According to Buncombe County Chair David Gantt, the county will use the land for “an economic development project that will be a big benefit to both of our communities.” I can only assume this was the economic development emergency requiring a closed session yesterday. As a mere citizen, I am not privy to intel on which crony is getting how much, for that would be casting the elective caste’s pearls before swine. Besides, look at all the prosperity cronyism has gotten us thus far.
