Some of our New England natives may have happy childhood memories of fluffernutter sandwiches, but Marshmallow Fluff is under attack in Massachusetts. State Senator Jarrett T. Barrios was “outraged” that his son received a fluffernutter
at school. Being a Democrat and a legislator, he decided there oughtta
be a law limiting children’s access to Fluff and that he should be the
one to write it.
The fight over Fluff is now national news and the proponents want to make fluffernutter the official sandwich of Massachusetts.
Marshmallow Fluff has the same nutritional value as grape jelly. Fluffernutters may be regional, but the PB&J is a national institution.
