Hmmm, the taxpayer subsidized Wachovia Arts Tower suffered a little setback this afternoon:

A scheduled 3:30 p.m. construction blast at the Wachovia-South Tryon project broke a water pipe Tuesday. Fixing it should disrupt traffic on part of Stonewall Street until midnight.

Most traffic was blocked on both sides of the street between Tryon and Church streets as crews used a jackhammer to break through the asphalt outiside the Charlotte Observer building to get to the broken pipe.

A cost estimate would be nice. Then again, nevermind. What’s the point? We’ve already decided any cost is worth it.
