The Wilmington Star-News touts state subsidies to movies. Not all of the money goes to movie stars, however, some of it goes to promoting the tax credits themselves.

The N.C. Film Office plans to print out business cards and give them to film workers. When they purchase something at a store with film money, they will fill out the card and date it. The card will say something to the effect that “This money was spent directly because of the film industry.”

The folks who are still jobless won’t see the cards explaining that they don’t have a job in part because their potential employer’s taxes are higher so state government can buy a few jobs in Wilmington.
