Tim Moffitt is being declared the winner over Jane Whilden with 56% of the vote. Other upsets include the defeat of incumbents Joe Sam Queen and John Snow. Other Democrat incumbents in Buncombe County will remain seated. Van Duncan was re-elected sheriff with 70% of the vote.
