Members of the Charlotte city council can continue their little game of I’ve-got-a-NASCAR-secret for a few more weeks if need be, if it makes them feel important. But rest assured any agreement between the city and NASCAR for a city-owned and operated Hall of Fame will be vetted with a fine-tooth comb.

There will not be a repeat of Uptown arena farce, which had council approving an agreement few members had read and no one outside of government and Bob Johnson’s legal team had even seen.
