And we’re getting very detailed coverage of it because the unlucky person to come down with the disease is Charlotte Observer reporter Elizabeth Leland. And she has some advice:
“People need to be aware,” she said. “I’ve always avoided using chemicals in the house and the yard … but I’ve been telling my friends to spray with an insecticide that has DEET.”
Good advice indeed. DEET works as an insect repellent, so mosquitoes won’t get near you. And if they’re not near you, they can’t bite you.
