I loved the hilarious scene with Bruce the shark in Finding Nemo, but now the touchy-feely folks at PETA have taken the sentiment way too far, introducing their “Fish Empathy Project.”

“Fish are so misunderstood because they’re so far removed from our daily lives,” said FEP manager Karin Robertson, as quoted in this story. At the same time, however, PETA decries what it views as the horrible living conditions of fish — polluted water, mercury, etc.

So, if fish life is awful IN the water, and fish life is awful OUT of the water, what’s a poor unsuspecting fish to do about all this oppression and unfairness perpetrated by an uncaring society? Hey, maybe the government can figure it out for us.
