The Elizabeth City Daily Advance reports on the now-discarded idea for the longest pier on the East Coast:
The dock was supposed to be designed in a way that it wouldn’t harm environmentally sensitive fish habitats.
But critics of the proposal said an 1,800-foot pier wouldn’t be
safe for school children who would have to cover that distance to reach
the ferry.
It’s official–fish are more valued than children.
