The Green River Watershed Alliance (GRWA), through the Isothermal Planning and Development Commission (IPDC), received a $15,000 grant last year to do an assessment of the Green River Watershed, including Lake Adger, to identify sedimentation and erosion issues and recommend solutions.
The grant comes from the NC DENR. The IPDC just serves as a bureaucracy. $15,000 is small beans in government, but if anybody cared to go cheaper, some free advice would be: If you have to do a study to find out what the issues are, maybe there aren’t any critical issues in the first place. From what I can gather, the study is to identify ways to stop (unnatural) dirt from going in the stream so (natural) boats and kayaks can contribute to the quality of life of the little fishies.
