The largest chunk of change affecting North Carolinians is the state budget. Speaking with State Government Radio, Joe Coletti highlighted the state’s priority funding. In interviews with Tom Roussey at WBTV and Rob Christensen with the N&O, Joe provided some bad spending and tax items in the budget and tracked the spending increases over the last few years. And in an early morning interview with Tracey Early on News14, Joe found more ways to spin the same story. To spice things up, Joe took part in a debate on state spending on “At Issue.” Despite all of these opportunities to learn how our state can possible have a $20.7 billion budget, at least one news outlet failed to put it into perspective. Guess which one? (caution, this could be a trick question). If you’re wondering where all the money is going, you can mark transportation infrastructure off the list of possibilities. Overall, you’d be hard-pressed to make a list of your personal benefits to this seething pot o’cash. Yet take comfort in the certainty of at least one category: B.S.
