Yet another interesting story down in Lexington, this one about a little real estate deal.
Follow me here —-the city and the Lexington Housing and Community Development Corp. use a block grant administered by the state to buy and redevelop houses in the city’s Erlanger Mill Village section. The city discovers that three of the houses are owned by council member Linwood Bunce. In order to adhere to state rules that “will not allow grant funds to be used on a house belonging to a councilman,” LHCDC decides to buy Bunce’s houses.
Do I even need to mention that LDCDC is a nonprofit organization funded by the city and the state?
