Last week’s State Board of Elections hearing into former Gov. Mike Easley’s campaign finances continues to generate media interest in the work of Carolina Journal. Executive Editor Don Carrington discussed Easley during a radio interview with Scott Fitzgerald on WPTF, while Managing Editor Rick Henderson offered his insights during an interview with Pete Kaliner on WBT. The Lincoln Tribune also republished Henderson’s latest CJ exclusive on the Easley case, while Durham’s Independent Weekly highlighted Carrington’s work in shining light on Easley’s questionable conduct. A Spring Hope Enterprise editorial noted John Hood’s discussion of Easley in a recent column. Meanwhile, Carrington also earned radio time with Patrick Johnson on WPTF for a discussion of the sexual abuse allegations lodged against Sen. R.C. Soles, D-Columbus. Senate Republicans highlighted a CJ exclusive featuring Carrington’s video interview of the accuser in the Soles case. (The same e-mail noted a column from Hood outlining economic, education, and political factors that hurt North Carolina’s reputation.)
