Absurd headlines such as “We’re eating ourselves to death” (alas, science has failed to produce an alternative to eating) are just the half of it. When a major study concludes that “poor diet including obesity and physical inactivity caused 400,000 U.S. deaths,” the focus immediately is on the poor diet part of the equation and not on the physical inactivity factor.

Why? May I suggest two major reasons? (1) Litigation windfalls, q.v. the success of the test case, tobacco lawsuits, and (2) Nanny staters, the self-appointed scolds who know better than you about everything and want to govern your personal decisions for your own good.
