Former Greensboro News & Record publisher/editor Jeff “Grits” Gauger got off on the wrong foot here in Gboro when he penned a column about the wonder of –you guessed it—-grits.
Doesn’t seem likely that Gauger’s replacement—Daniel Finnegan–who takes over July 5—will do the same. Finnegan’s a son of the south, having spent the last 29 years with the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Local blogger Triad Conservative is familiar with the Times-Dispatch and hopes Finnegan will bring a some of that paper’s conservative viewpoint and higher editorial standards to the N&R. But more than likely, he will “be quickly be whipped back into line.”
