Strange little tale of two arrests in the Westin parking deck when a plan to rob a drug dealer from Belmont went sideways.

But what caught my eye is that the folks who rented the room at the Westin from which a call to the alleged drug dealer was placed were not charged by CMPD. Wonder who they are — and who they know? From the WSOC account nothing makes sense:

Three people, including two teenagers, rented a room at the Westin Hotel Uptown, police said. One of them called a drug dealer to come to the hotel, according to police.

Officers said the three people wanted to rob the dealer in the hotel’s parking garage, but they ran when security officers saw them.

Police arrested one man suspected of being the drug dealer and a 17-year-old girl. She is charged with having drug paraphernalia, police said. The other two people who rented the hotel room will not be charged.

So the supposedly high-end Westin is renting rooms to groups of teenagers? Interesting in and of itself. And CMPD is saying three people planned to commit a crime, but two of them ran away, so they won’t be charged?

I don’t get it.
