This may sound really crazy, but I think residents of New Orleans
may want to evacuate in case Hurricane Rita hits the city.

Some residents however do not seem to agree with me, as discussed in this article:

I’m
staying. I don’t think (Rita’s) headed here,” said Scott “Hound”
Peterson, 37, who spent the days after Katrina hit navigating his
flooded neighborhood streets in a canoe.

Annie Lewis, 47, a property owner in the historic French Quarter, said
she refused to leave. “It’ll take a gun to my head,” she said.

Annie, please don’t shoot yourself, but you really should
consider leaving.  Hound, I respect your skills as a
meteorologist, but maybe, just maybe, the storm could hit.

Media,
Hound, Annie, et. al, whatever you do, please don’t blame the
government (federal, state, or local) after the fact.   In a
free society, we generally allow citizens to take these types of
risks.  Don’t blame that very society when these risks don’t pay off.
