Long-time local clothier BonWorth is considering selling its stores rather than going out of business. Store leadership is considering this in spite of a petition circulating to get Governor Pat McCrory to shell out a bailout from his magic money stash.
In a similar vein, west of the border, Sardar Biglari is getting on the case of Cracker Barrel. He wants them to sell the business because they are not creating enough value for shareholders. Biglari is a native Iranian, so he probably does not yet grasp the American business model wherein corporations get government money to create and retain jobs for quality engineers to ferociously document the unionized shoveling of garbage out to customers. “Value” is only a vision word one prints on coffee mugs so line workers know what to tell the ISO inspectors.
