As the Senate District 24 race heats up, Sen. Tony Foriest attacks Republican opponent Rick Gunn’s involvement with the Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce, claiming the chamber is soft on illegal immigration.
If Gunn is a member of the local chamber of commerce, Foriest reasons, then he has close ties with the national chamber, which, according to his campaign mailer, “strongly supports a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants — a plan that many believe is the same as amnesty.”
Foriest is pretty clever here—- he takes a cue from his leader and flips the hot-button issue in his district, no doubt an effort to woo independent voters.
