I knew the jury would wrap this one up before the weekend. Former Housing Authority of Winston-Salem chairman Ernie Pitt is found guilty of two counts of mail fraud in a property-flipping scheme. Pitt will be sentenced on June 30 and faces up to 20 years in prison:
In his closing argument, (prosecutor Frank)Chut argued in front of an oversized copy of an $84,000 check made out to Pitt. He pointed again and again to the check as proof that Pitt violated his duty to provide honest public service.
