I’d seen the headlines announcing Alamance-Burlington schools had hired an interim superintendent to fill in for the departing Randy Bridges, but I just caught that it’s Del Burns, who resigned as Wake County’s school superintendent under a cloud of controversy.

Burns will make $15,775 per month for a total of $94,650 if he is employed for the full six-month interim period. Burns will also continue his work as a consultant for a South Carolina company, but his contract states he will devote no more than three days per month to his consulting work, with phone calls related to the consulting work to made on his own time, unless, of course, they don’t interfere with his duties as interim superintendent.

Comments from Burlington-Times News readers are definitely worth a look. More than a few are not impressed with Burns’ credentials.
