Interesting that Forsyth County Commissioner Beaufort Bailey turns the tables on his fellow commissioners and casts the lone dissenting vote on a resolution asking the state to deal with the financila burden of illegal immigration.

Last night’s resolution comes after commissioners had earlier voted down Bailey’s request to form a 13-member committee to explore illegal immigration’s burden on the county, which budget director Joe Bartel estimated at $11.2 million per year.

Bailey said a simple resolution just doesn’t carry any weight:

“After they killed my committee, they came up with this resolution trying to say something about it,” Bailey had said earlier. “I don’t think very much of it. It is just a farce to fool the people in Forsyth County like we are trying to do something about it. I don’t think it is worth the paper it is written on.”

But illegals’ burdenon government should be countered by the fact that they’re paying taxes, right?
