Only a slightly surprising bit of news, namely that Charlotte city councilman Anthony Foxx intends to run for mayor next year.
Given the partisan shift in the city’s voter base in recent years, which will only be amplified by new voters brought out by Obamadrama this year, a Democrat with a high name ID would certainly have fair shot at the office. Toss in the 50-50 possibility that Pat McCrory is off in Raw-lee trying to plug a $2b. budget hole and you kinda have a no brainer situation for young pol with the ambition of Foxx.
In fact, the thing to watch is if more potential Democrat challengers do not boil up in the coming weeks and months. Foxx clearly was not about to wait around and find out.
