A high-level French official has concluded that terrorism and terrorists might be something the French should be worried about. In an Associated Press story published in last Friday’s Raleigh News & Observer, Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie is quoted as follows regarding the potential for French militants to not only fight with the insurgents in Iraq, but to turn their attention to their French homeland:

“These French citizens who are prepared to carry out suicide attacks in Iraq are people who could one day carry out suicide attacks elsewhere,” Michele Alliot-Marie said. “That worries us. There are movements, groups, that can threaten our territory as well as others.”

No kidding.
