When talking to a FairTax group this weekend, I thought of a way the
state government could make North Carolina a high wage state and
attract high-paying jobs — not just $6.15 an hour minimum wage jobs, but $100,000 a year jobs.

The
state government would pay the salaries of any new job earning above
the median income for North Carolina, roughly $27,000. No more waiting
to see what kind of hiring a company does before handing out Bill Lee Tax Credits.
No more hoping that the jobs will pan out. With the government paying
the salaries, we can expect a number of companies to start creating
good jobs everywhere from Kannnapolis to Kinston.
